Marie Aull Papers

Abstract Marie Sturwold was born on January 8, 1897 in Cincinnati, OH. She started gardening as a child, but her passion for gardening fully took form when she married John Aull in 1923. They lived in a property north of Dayton that would one day become Aullwood Garden MetroPark and Aullwood Audubon Center. Fulton Flight Scrapbook

Abstract

This collection consists of an individual's scrapbook containing clippings and other memorabilia pertaining to the Fulton Flight Contest sponsored by the Aero Club of America in New York in 1909. Included are announcements of the contest, promotional material and entry form, news clippings describing the contest, commemorative postcards and information on preparation by the aviators. The scrapbook is unbound and the pages housed in three boxes.

Homer and Elsie Hardy Collection

Homer and Elsie Hardy lived in Dayton, Ohio, but travelled the world in the 1920s and 1930s, possibly as part of Homer's job as a manager in the foreign department of the Delco-Light Company. The Homer and Elsie Hardy Collection contains 8 scrapbooks and numerous other postcards and photographs documenting their family life and travels.

Charles Harris Papers

Abstract

Consists of 11 letters and postcards written by Bishop Milton Wright, father of the Wright Brothers, to his nephew Charles Harris who lived in Iowa. Letters date from 1901 thru 1916 and cover a variety of subjects including Orville and Wilbur's flying experiments, travels to Europe, family matters, and a description of Wilbur's death and funeral in 1912.

Louise Kennedy Collection

Abstract

Louise Achey Kennedy was a prominent member in Dayton society during the late 19th and early 20th century. She was a charter member of the Jonathan Dayton Chapter of the DAR, and a genealogical researcher. The collection consists of personal correspondence, travel souvenirs, religious pamphlets, photographs, and miscellaneous ephemera from the late 1880s to the early 1900s.

Miles S. Kuhns Papers

The Miles S. Kuhns Papers consist mainly of correspondence related to Kuhns' political career. It contains many lobbying letters from citizens and organizations. Almost half of the collection relates to Kuhns' work with the Ohio Revolutionary War Memorial Commission. A third section consists of personal correspondence and ephemera Kuhns received throughout his career.
